About the Event
Every year, the HNG Foundation hosts the Community Impact Awards during which The Jim Dunn Community Impact Award (CIA) is given to an individual, couple, or organization who has demonstrated significant stewardship in the Hickory Nut Gorge community.
These community-minded people have provided the civic leadership that has been the cornerstone of the Gorge. That leadership continues to be carried out by strong, dedicated people who accept the challenges and responsibility for its care. The Community Impact Award acknowledges that spirit and recognizes those special people who have made the Hickory Nut Gorge a better place.
The 2024 CIA Recipients
This year’s James Dunn Community Impact Award recipients are well-known to the Hickory Nut Gorge because they have been so active over many years. Steve Gale is a local and has been part of our community for many years. He has been a dedicated member of the Chimney Rock community. Mary Jaeger-Gale is well known for her work at Chimney Rock State Park. She has also served on countless boards and committees throughout the Gorge. The Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation is pleased to be able to honor these two pillars of our community.
